		<description>Thank you for this post.  My husband's wonderful family has a tradition of lavish gift giving - even when I suspect it is straining others' resources.  As we face tighter times ourselves, I feel pressure to keep up - even though I truly doubt that my MiL needs another silk scarf.

The keeping up trap is tough to avoid, but we're going into the holidays believing that putting thought into our gifts is far more important than the dollar amount we spend.</description>
